"As a young, Black woman, these books have encouraged me to take a proactive attitude with confronting racism and inequality at any level especially with young, Black children growing up in our society today. There have not been many young positive role models in books within the last few years who look like us to encourage us to do right. These books push and challenge readers to be the change that they wish to see without waiting for another to initiate the change. The author not only gives us stories and examples of how change is initiated, but the workbooks provide real life scenarios that allow situations children might not find themselves in to critically solve the solution."
