Summer Camp 2024 Project Unbreakable: Transforming Minds Through I.D.E.A.s (Identity, Diversity, Equity & Agency)
The Reely Rylee Youth Program exists to bridge the gap in social and education disparities faced by youth in underserved communities by meeting the needs of the whole child to ensure their successful development and potential at school, their involvement in the community and the world at large. We aim to provide a well-rounded experience to bring into alignment the socio-emotional, intellectual, developmental, creative and physical needs of all children while educating, equipping and encouraging them to pay it forward to others they may never meet in their lifetime. As such, our program is designed as a Book Club that's built around our "Here's an I.D.E.A." model with themes that include, but are not limited to the descriptions below:
Identity

Our youth will learn how to thoroughly embrace their uniqueness, know their worth, build & protect their WHOLE self, stay clear of compromising their character, maintain & share their joy through forgiveness, grace, humility, etc.

Diversity

Our youth will learn how to seek first to understand, remain teachable, develop and maintain compassion, diversify their friendships, grow in community, overlook offenses, etc.

Agency

Our youth will learn how to set goals, turn pain into power, embrace the power of yet/being solutions oriented, be the change they want to see in the world, engage in tough conversation respectfully & peacefully, think outside of the box, lead while young, engage in generational interchanges, pursue peace on earth, live a life of service, etc.

We did it! Thanks to our participants, parents, sponsors, partnership, staff and volunteers, our first annual summer camp was indeed a success! And, a special and HUGE THANK YOU to St. Thomas Episcopal for opening their doors to us!
Drawing out the leader within!
This is truly a unique opportunity for our youth to be introduced to the world of social justice from a positive and proactive perspective with unity and community in mind.
By the end of the program, participants will develop a more positive sense of self, belonging and potential for agency within their immediate community and/or the world at large. After setting goals, building their individual character, team building and exploring the social justice curriculum, participants will decide on a community-based project they would like to execute both locally and globally with our international partnerships. They will also develop or increase their love for reading and learning while enhancing their comprehension skills and general knowledge.

Identity

Our participants expressed their desire to know and better understand who they are through their readings, discussions and decisions about how to respond to our history and continued injustices here in America and around the world.
Diversity
We have our differences in common! - Reely Rylee
Our participants hailed from various racial and enthnic backgrounds and had the opportunity to learn about each others'difference and similarities.We also had children challenged with specia needs enroll as well as attend our Family Evening Out events. Overall, because of the richness of the diversity, we watched relationships grow among our participants and also our partners with continued friendships and partnerships already established!
Equity
There must be a fair starting point and needed support along the way for all to live with dignity.
Our participants shared their thoughts on educational inequities across the country, the state and their school district. They collaborated on mural that communicates awareness and hope for change.
Agency
Simply put, we are not preparing to be agents of change in the future...we are agents of change in the present!

A picture tells a thousand words. From organizing goods, packing & labeling bags, setting up tents to keep food pantry patrons and staff dry, our participants served with joy and humility...already conjuring up future opportunities to continue to change the world!
